Eduardo Tavera & Scott Lauth

It’s only fitting that a design firm with global influences started with a global story. We met while Scott was traveling to Mexico City, Eduardo’s hometown, and instantly connected over our love of travel and our shared passion for design.

Two years later, after a beautiful, whirlwind love story complete with adventures around the globe, we got married, moved in together in Chicago, and started Tavera Scott Design to make beautiful homes for the people we care about.

We each bring a unique perspective to our interior design projects. Eduardo’s talent for design was evident from a young age, which led him to pursue it professionally. He started his career at the principal design center in Mexico City where he gained experience selling high-end furnishings and antiques. After traveling to the U.S. and establishing connections with US-based designers, he founded his own interior design company in Mexico City. Later on, he met Scott and the two founded Tavera Scott Design in Chicago.

Scott’s lifelong passion for design included a 14-year career with HGTV where he worked with popular HGTV talent and studied their creative design processes. During that time, he started doing interior design on the side as a passion project, first by helping friends find special pieces to make their spaces pop, then by designing entire rooms. Now, he is doing full home renovation projects.

Together, we combine our different global perspectives to offer a warm and friendly client experience and create spaces that lift our clients up and make their lives more beautiful, comfortable, and peaceful.

Flea Markets

One of our favorite things to do together is browse flea markets to find one-of-a-kind statement pieces. There’s nothing like discovering a historic, previously-loved item and letting that existing love fill our clients’ homes.
